New York’s Cuomo Wants to Bring Beer to a Movie Theater Near You

Moviegoers who want to wash down their popcorn with a beer have a friend in New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

Cuomo’s budget, proposed late Tuesday, would authorize the state liquor authority to issue an alcohol license to movie theaters. Currently, only those with kitchens may serve alcoholic drinks.

Parents seeking relief from the boredom of the latest children’s movie are out of luck, though. Only customers holding tickets to movies rated PG-13 or higher could imbibe, according to Cuomo’s budget briefing.

There would also be no double-fisting allowed: Customers could only buy one drink at a time.
