Obama Gets Defense Bill Prohibiting Guantanamo Closure

For one last time, President Barack Obama is getting a defense policy bill that spurns his promise to close the military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

A congressional ban on closing the facility has dogged Obama since he took office in 2009 even though he repeatedly promised to do so and took steps that have reduced the detainees held there to 59 from 242.
