Toyota Brake Supplier Advics Reports Japan Plant Explosion

Advics Co., a supplier of braking components to Toyota Motor Corp., reported an explosion at one of its factories in central Japan’s Aichi prefecture, a fire department official said.

Four people were sent to the hospital and one person was seriously injured, said the official, who asked not be named citing department policy. The explosion occurred at 12:05 p.m. on Monday near the painting line for brakes at Advics’s Kariya plant and the extent of damage is being checked, the company said in a statement.
