Chinese Interest in Australian Homes Is Starting to Drop: Chart

Buyers from China, often blamed for the sharp rise in home prices in Sydney and Melbourne, are starting to lose interest. In the first four months of the year, visits by potential buyers from China to’s listings in New South Wales state, which has Sydney as its capital, declined 25 percent from the same period last year. Views of properties in Victoria state, whose capital is Melbourne, fell 8.9 percent, while the mining state of Western Australia saw the biggest drop of 35 percent, according to the portal, one of the nation’s two biggest property websites.
