Coal’s victory over iron ore in January isn’t necessarily a sign of strength. Australian Bureau of Statistics data show the value of both of Australia’s major commodity exports is still sliding on a monthly basis. It’s just that coal is sliding less than iron ore. A recent price recovery in iron ore may ensure coal’s reign is short lived.
