Cameroon armed forces killed 10 Boko Haram rebels and an army captain was mortally wounded during a skirmish on Oct. 18 in the country’s Far North region, an army spokesman said.

The Islamist rebels attacked a Rapid Response Brigade vehicle escorting military engineers after it got stuck in mud near the village of Wambache, close to the Nigerian border, Pierre Migne, the divisional officer for Mora, said by phone. Robert Djinebo, the commander of the brigade’s Limani sector, later died of his wounds, Migne said.
