Cargill Inc.’s board elected Chief Executive Officer David MacLennan as its chairman, a month after the commodity producer and trader reported its first quarterly loss in 14 years.

MacLennan, 56, succeeds Greg Page, the previous CEO of the company, who will remain on the board as an executive director, Minneapolis-based Cargill said in a statementBloomberg Terminal Thursday.
