Spin Master Ltd. must pay part of a $435,000 award to the family of a child poisoned after swallowing beads coated with material that dissolves into the same chemical as a date-rape drug.
It is the first verdict over the recalled Aqua Dots game, and comes as the toy company is planning an IPO in Canada. A jury in Phoenix federal court held Thursday that Toronto-based Spin Master and Moose Enterprise Pty Ltd were financially responsible for Ryan Monje’s poisoning.
