New Orleans Saints owner Tom Benson was found competent to manage his own affairs by a Louisiana judge, giving the billionaire an edge in a battle with spurned heirs seeking to wrest control of his sports and business empire.
The ruling came after more than a week of testimony in a closed hearing. Benson’s third wife, Gayle, his estranged daughter and her children testified along with medical experts who had tested the mental fitness of the 87-year-old.
