Alstom SA, which agreed to sell most of its energy business to General Electric Co., is gearing up to address concerns by European regulators about the deal as the French company expects to receive a list with antitrust issues over the 12.4 billion-euro ($13.9 billion) bid.
The “statement of objections” by the European Commission is a “usual step in a phase II merger case and it does not prejudge the outcome of the investigation,” Alstom said in a statement, referring to the EU’s in-depth probe of the deal. “This will allow both General Electric and Alstom to address specific matters pointed out by the investigating team.”
