U.S. Sends Egypt F-16 Planes Held Up After Military Takeover

U.S. President Barack Obama has agreed to send Egypt 12 F-16 fighter jets and other weapons that had been held up after the 2013 military takeoverBloomberg Terminal that ousted democratically elected President Mohamed Mursi, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Obama also will support continuing to provide $1.3 billion a year in military assistance to Egypt after a review prompted by the takeover that installed President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said in a statement on Tuesday.
