This week’s notable deaths included a three-term prime minister of Australia; the former chairman of Germany’s largest steelmaker; and a retired deputy commander of China’s military who was accused of taking bribes in exchange for granting promotions. Below are summaries of these and other obituaries.

Malcolm Fraser, 84. Served three terms as Australia’s prime minister, from 1975 to 1983. The former leader of the Liberal Party cut government spending, lowered taxes and eased immigration laws, enabling about 200,000 Asians to relocate to Australia, including Vietnamese refugees. Died March 20.
