U.S. Senator Robert Menendez of New Jersey may face charges that he used his office to promote the business interests of a donor in exchange for gifts, CNN reported, citing unidentified people familiar with the matter.
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has agreed that prosecutors in the probe may move forward with charges, according to the report. CNN said charges could be brought against the Democrat within weeks, and that some of them may soon be barred under the statute of limitations.
