Eric Cantor, the former House majority leader who joined Wall Street veteran Ken Moelis’s investment bank last year, said he plans to focus on technology, defense and health-care companies as the firm expands into Washington.

Cantor, a Republican who represented a district in Virginia, will be the lead managing director in the Washington bureau of Moelis & Co. that is opening Tuesday, he said on a conference call. Corporations are focused on the nation’s capital, so the firm must be too, he said.
