Bank of America Corp. appealed a Hong Kong judge’s December ruling that employers in the city can’t fire staff to avoid paying them a bonus, won by a distressed-debt banker after a seven-year legal battle.

High Court Judge Anthony To accepted Sunny Tadjudin’s argument that she had an implied right to a performance bonus, and rejected the bank’s argument that it had an absolute contractual right to fire her with notice. No hearing date has been set for the bank’s appeal filed last month. No details of the appeal were available.
