Walter Liedtke, Met Museum Curator, Vermeer Expert, Dies at 69

Walter Liedtke, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s curator of European paintings for the past 35 years and an authority on Johannes Vermeer, was killed in the Metro-North Railroad commuter train crash in Valhalla, New York, on Feb. 3. He was 69.
His death was confirmed in an e-mailed statement from the Manhattan-based museum. He lived in Bedford Hills, New York, according to public records, the source for his age.
