Mortgage Applications in U.S. Climb for Third Straight Week

Mortgage applications in the U.S. climbed for a third consecutive week as lower borrowing costs propelled gains in refinancing.

The Mortgage Bankers Association’s index rose 14.2 percent in the period ended Jan. 16 after surging 49.1 percent the prior week, figures from the Washington-based group showed Wednesday.
