Women in Mining U.K., a lobby group promoting the appointment of more female executives in the industry, criticized top firms for being slow to correct the gender balance at board level.
The top 100 globally listed mining companies have increased the number of female board appointments by only 3.1 percent since 2012, the group said in a report it prepared with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. “At this rate it will take until 2039 for the top 100 listed mining companies to reach the 30 percent critical mass of women on boards,” it said.
