Serena Williams overcame nerves to start her campaign for a sixth Australian Open tennis title with a win.

The women’s top seed beat Alison Van Uytvanck, 6-0, 6-4 in her opening match at Melbourne Park. Williams, a 33-year-old American, took the first seven games before the Belgian fought back and stayed with her opponent until 4-4.
