San Jose Loses Antitrust Challenge to Baseball: Business of Law

Major League Baseball has won another round in its efforts to block the Oakland Athletics from moving to San Jose, California.

A panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals in San Francisco yesterday agreed that baseball Commissioner Bud Selig didn’t violate antitrust law in barring the move by the A’s. The court, in upholding a federal district judge, ruled that baseball’s historic exemption from the antitrust laws barred San Jose’s claims.
