Maccagnan succeeds John Idzik, who was fired last month, two seasons after replacing Mike Tannenbaum. Jets owner Woody Johnson dismissed both Idzik and coach Rex Ryan after the team had a 4-12 record this season and missed the National Football League playoffs for the fourth straight year.
