J.K. Simmons Wins Golden Globe for Supporting Role in ‘Whiplash’

J.K. Simmons was voted best supporting actor for his role as a demanding music teacher in “Whiplash,” as the annual Golden Globe Awards got under way.

The award was the first handed out today in a live NBC telecast from Beverly Hills, California. “Birdman” leads the field, followed by “Boyhood” and “The Imitation Game.” Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are hosting the show for a third and final year, as the Hollywood Foreign Press Association honors the past year’s achievements in film and television.
