Guinea Unions Agree to 40% Government Pay Increase to End Strike

Guinea’s labor unions ended a strike after accepting the government’s offer to boost wages by 40 percent.
The government will also cut fuel prices starting next month as part of the agreement, Amadou Diallo, secretary general of Confederation Nationale Travailleurs de Guinee, said by phone from Conakry, the capital. The first increase will be 20 percent in April, he said. Wages will rise 10 percent in in July and October, he said.
