Jordan presented a resolution to the United Nations Security Council setting out a one-year deadline for reaching a peace agreement between the Israelis and the Palestinians and an Israeli withdrawal from lands it captured in the 1967 Six-Day War.
As the Arab representative on the Security Council, Jordan introduced the resolution today so it could be voted on at any time. No requests were made to schedule a vote, and the Arabs are unlikely to force one immediately, according to two Arab diplomats who asked for anonymity to discuss negotiations.
