China Stocks Worth Double Other BRICs Combined: Chart of the Day

China’s stocks are worth double those in Brazil, Russia and India combined. Just six months ago, the one-versus-three comparison was at parity.
The CHART OF THE DAY compares China’s market capitalization to the combined total in the other BRIC nations. China’s value surged 50 percent to $4.94 trillion in the six months to Dec. 16, versus a 21 percent drop for Brazil, Russia and India to $2.54 trillion. The Shanghai Composite Index rose 46 percent in the period, versus drops of 13 percent in Russia’s Micex and 2.8 percent in Brazil’s Ibovespa. India’s S&P BSE Sensex Index gained 4.9 percent.
