Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP and Baker & McKenzie LLP advised Merck & Co. in its deal to buy Cubist Pharmaceuticals Inc. for $8.4 billion in cash. Cubist was represented by Ropes & Gray LLP.
The Hughes Hubbard team was led by corporate partner James Modlin and included partners David Schwartz and Andrew Fowler, corporate; Andrew Braiterman and Alexander Anderson, tax; Sarah Downie, employee benefits and executive compensation; and Ethan Litwin, antitrust.
