Natural gas futures rebounded from a six-week low in New York as traders bet that colder weather in January and February will stoke demand for the heating fuel after a mild start to December.

Temperatures may be below normal in the eastern half of the U.S. during the first two months of 2015, according to Commodity Weather Group LLC. Gas tumbled yesterday to the lowest settlement since Oct. 27 on forecasts for warmer-than-average weather on the East Coast from Dec. 13 through Dec. 22.
