Ecopetrol SA has put on hold plans to extend the Bicentenario pipeline because Colombia isn’t producing enough oil to justify the project.

The first phase of the pipeline started operating in October 2013, taking oil from Colombia’s eastern plains to the Cano Limon-Covenas pipeline near the border with Venezuela. Further stages would extend Bicentenario to Colombia’s Caribbean coast.
