Fewer jobs coupled with slowing exports point to a tentative economic recovery in Canada, even as the U.S. labor market powers ahead.
Canadian employment fell by 10,700 last month, led by a drop in retail positions, while the unemployment rate rose to 6.6 percent from a six-year low of 6.5 percent. The country’s trade surplus narrowed for a third straight month in October as export growth slowed, Statistics Canada reported from Ottawa.
