Jadeveon Clowney’s rookie season ended with the No. 1 pick in this year’s National Football League draft being placed on injured reserve by the Houston Texans.

Clowney, a 21-year-old defensive end, will have a second surgery on his right knee after undergoing an attempt in September to repair the meniscus he tore during the team’s opening game. Clowney returned for limited action in three games, yet has had persistent pain in the knee.
