Uber Teams Up With Billionaire Slim to Lure Riders in Mexico

Uber Technologies Inc. is teaming up billionaire Carlos Slim to help the car-booking app reach more consumers’ mobile phones in Latin America.

Slim’s America Movil SAB, whose Telcel service has seven out of 10 mobile-phone users in Mexico, will feature the app on all Android phones in the country starting today, Uber said in a blog post. The partnership will extend across Latin America in the coming months. Since the startup began operating last year in Mexico, Latin America’s markets have become some of the fastest-growing for the car service, Uber said.
