Germany has accepted a surge in immigrants over the past half decade while the number of arrivals into the U.K. is declining, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development said.

Europe’s largest economy received “well above” 400,000 immigrants last year, up from 399,900 in 2012 and almost double the 228,300 who arrived in 2008. Arrivals into the U.K. were 291,000 last year, down from 317,300 in 2008 and 343,300 in 2007, the OECD said in a report today.
