Zambia’s Scott Says Vote for Presidential Candidate Illegal

A meeting in which Zambia’s ruling party named Edgar Lungu as its new leader and candidate for the January presidential poll was “illegal and unconstitutional,” said acting party and national leader Guy Scott.
A Patriotic Front party conference to elect its new leader will take place today after the accreditation process is complete, Scott said yesterday in an interview in Kabwe, 111 kilometers (69 miles) northeast of Lusaka, the capital.
