Natural gas fell almost 3 percent, making it today’s worst performing commodity, as an arctic blast that boosted prices last week gave way to warmer weather.

The weather in the U.S. will be milder than usual over the next two weeks, after a cooler-than-normal pattern since Sept. 1, BNP Paribas SA said in a report e-mailed today. Lake-effect snow, caused by cold air passing over comparatively warm lakes, killed 12 people and halted travel across western New York last week, sending gas prices to the highest in almost two weeks.
