The United Nations Green Climate Fund approached its goal of raising $10 billion for projects to fight global warming, drawing investment from Mongolia to Mexico in a break with tradition that money comes only from the industrialized world.

The fund has received promises totaling $9.3 billion to date, German Development Minister Gerd Mueller told reporters today in Berlin. The GCF confirmed that amount after earlier saying the pledges totaled $9.4 billion.
