Americans will take advantage of an improving economy and lower gasoline prices to travel the most over the Thanksgiving holiday since the recession, AAA said.
The number of people taking trips of more than 49 miles will total 46.3 million, the most for the Nov. 27 holiday since 2007 and a 4.2 percent increase from a year ago, AAA said in an e-mailed report today. Almost 90 percent will drive, cashing in on what will probably be the cheapest gasoline prices for this season in five years, the Heathrow, Florida-based group said.
