Boston Scientific Corp. was found liable for the second time this month in federal court for selling defective vaginal mesh implants, adding pressure on the device maker to settle thousands more such lawsuits.

Federal court jurors in Charleston, West Virginia, awarded a total of $18.5 million in damages to four women who blamed the company’s vaginal inserts for leaving them in constant pain, including $4 million in punitive damages.
