‘That’s Market Manipulation?’ Ex-BOE Chief Dealer Asked

When asked whether banks trying to “bully the fix” were problematic, Martin Mallett -- then the Bank of England’s chief currency dealer -- said, “Well that’s market manipulation isn’t it?”
“Yep absolutely,” was an unidentified foreign-exchange trader’s reply, according to transcripts of the Oct. 3, 2011, call released by the BOE today.
