Debevoise Hires Herbert Smith Freehills Asia Chief

Debevoise & Plimpton LLP hired Mark Johnson, the Asia managing partner of Herbert Smith Freehills, boosting the New York-based law firm’s regulatory and white-collar crime practice.

Johnson, who will join as a partner in Hong Kong at a later date, has advised clients on disputes, investigations and litigation in Asia for more than 25 years, according to a Debevoise statement today. The firm, which added a local law practice to its Hong Kong office last month, now has “market-leading teams in the world’s major financial hubs,” said European and Asian litigation head Peter Goldsmith.
