China Pushes Free Trade Over TPP Before Obama Lands in Beijing

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting, to be held in Beijing this month, isn’t intended to serve as a venue to talk about TPP, Wang Shouwen, an assistant minister with China’s Ministry of Commerce, said at a briefing today. China is promoting an Asia-Pacific free trade deal to counter balance the U.S.-led TPP, which doesn’t include China.
