Zambian acting President Guy Scott rescinded his decision to fire Edgar Lungu as leader of the ruling party, a dismissal that had led to reports of rioting in the capital, Lusaka.
“The position of secretary general will remain with honorable Edgar Lungu,” Scott said in remarks broadcast on Lusaka-based 5 FM radio, a day after he removed the ruling Patriotic Front leader.
