Health officials will struggle to track people who came into contact with Mali’s first Ebola patient as the West African nation rushes to prevent a wider outbreak, the Red Cross said.

Health workers will need to retrace the route of the 2-year-old Guinean girl, who died of the virus yesterday. The toddler was showing symptoms when she traveled to Bamako, the capital, and then to the rural town of Kayes, Mamadou Traore, secretary-general for the Red Cross in Mali, said by phone.
