Markit U.S. Preliminary Factory Index Dropped to 56.2 in October

The Markit Economics preliminary index of U.S. manufacturing decreased to a three-month low of 56.2 in October from 57.5 a month earlier, the London-based group said today.
Readings exceeding 50 in the purchasing managers’ gauge indicate expansion. The median forecast in a Bloomberg survey of economists was 57, with estimates ranging from 54.8 to 58.5.
