Brazil Joblessness Unexpectedly Dips to September Record Low

Brazil’s unemployment rate in September unexpectedly fell, as the labor force contracted three days before presidential elections. Swap rates rose.

The jobless rate dropped to 4.9 percent from 5 percent in August, the national statistics agency said in Rio de Janeiro today. That was a record low for the month and lower than all but one estimate from 35 economists surveyed by Bloomberg, whose median forecast was 5.1 percent.
