Target Eyes Holiday Turnaround on Free Shipping, Faux Fur

Target Corp. is betting that free shipping, more advertising and 35,000 new items will fuel a much-needed turnaround for its holiday fortunes.

These changes are all part of a refocus on customer service and offering shoppers better value since Brian Cornell took over as chief executive officer in August, following the exit of Gregg Steinhafel. Target, which now offers free shipping for customers who use its branded payment cards, is extending that to all purchases from today through Dec. 20.
