Airbus Studies Extra Tank on A321 to Replace 757 Across Atlantic

Airbus Group NV has begun discussing plans with airlines for a new variant of its A321neo featuring extra fuel tanks to increase range for carriers seeking to replace Boeing Co. 757 models on some trans-Atlantic routes.

The proposed derivative of the planemaker’s longest-range single-aisle plane would be certified for a higher take-off weight so it could carry extra fuel, a spokeswoman for the manufacturer said today.
