Cairn India Names Canadian Oil Industry Veteran Ashar CEO

Cairn India Ltd., the explorer controlled by billionaire Anil Agarwal’s Vedanta Resources Plc, named Mike Ashar its chief executive officer effective Nov. 17.
The nation’s biggest onshore oil producer, Cairn announced the appointment today after a meeting of its board of directors, according to a statement on its website. The company has been without a full-time CEO since Rahul Dhir resigned in August 2012 after six years at the helm. Ashar, 59, was also named a managing director of Cairn India.
