French Government Wants to Cut Highway Operators’ Fees

French energy and environment minister Segolene Royal wants to reduce highway fees by 10 percent and abolish tolls on weekends, as she questions the “super profits” and business model of French toll companies.
“Paytoll highways operators haven’t respected their contract, they should have gradually decreased highway prices after they were built,” Royal said today in an interview with RTL radio. “Car drivers have paid twice.”
