Advanced Micro Devices Inc. is giving newly appointed Chief Executive Officer Lisa Su a smaller paycheck than predecessor Rory Read, who stepped down last week after leading the chipmaker for three years.

Su was promoted from the post of chief operating officer on Oct. 8, just a week before the company is scheduled to report third-quarter earnings. She will receive an annual salary of $850,000, according to a filing yesterday, less than the $1 million that Read got last year and the year before. Su will also be granted an annual equity award and a cash performance bonus.
