Sectarian fighting killed at least 12 people and wounded 21 overnight in Central African Republic’s capital, Bangui, in the worst outbreak of violence since a July cease-fire, the nation’s Red Cross said.

The death toll will probably rise because gunfire erupted across the city throughout the night, Alexandre Gbaguili, supervisor at the Red Cross, said today by phone. “Our teams haven’t been to all the neighborhoods.”
